Sioux Lookout's Chris Hoffman named Pizza Hut player of the wee

Press Release

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Chris Hoffman of the Sioux Lookout Flyers has been named Pizza Hut player of the week for the period running Jan. 23-29.

In three games this past week the 20-year-old native of Leonard, Mich., racked up 11 points helping Sioux Lookout skate to a trio of victories.

He opened up with a two-goal, one-assist performance in a win over Iron Range this past Tuesday.

The Flyers’ forward followed that up with a hat-trick, which included scoring the game-winning goal and setting up two others, in another triumph over the Ironheads on Wednesday. He then wrapped up his award-winning run by registering another three-tally night that featured his second game-winner in as many outings while leading his squad to a 5-2 upset of league-leading Wisconsin on Saturday.

Hoffman tops his club in overall offensive production with 53 points, including a SIJHL-best 33 goals. He also sits eighth league scoring.

To recognize his on-ice efforts Hoffman will be presented with a gift card courtesy of Pizza Hut.

Honourable mention for the Pizza Hut player of the week award went to Brandon Wolframe, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars; Hunter Scott, (F) Duluth Clydesdales; Ryan Lobreau, (F) Dryden Ice Dogs; Tanner Hamilton, (G) Fort Frances Lakers; Tanner Milliron, (G) Wisconsin Wilderness and Christopher Andre (F) Iron Range Iron Heads.

At the conclusion of the 2011-12 regular season the top performer in the SIJHL will earn the Pizza Hut player of the year award.
