Press Release

Sioux Falls, SD—The Sioux Falls Stampede announced today that they have acquired forward Travis Belohrad (pronounced: Behl-uh-Rad) from the Muskegon Lumberjacks in exchange for a draft pick in the 2012 USHL Draft.

Belohrad, 20, was in his second season with the Lumberjacks and second on the team in scoring with 15 points (9g, 6a) in 25 games. His 9 goals were tied for the team lead and two of those goals were game winners. He had a season high five-game scoring streak from November 25 th to December 10 th .

A native of Brighton, Colorado, Belohrad registered 34 points (18g, 16a) in 55 games last season with Muskegon, fourth best on the team. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound center is no stranger to the Stampede as he participated in the Herd’s training camps in the past.

“Travis was in our camp for two straight years and nearly made our team each time so we are very familiar with his game,” said Stampede head coach Kevin Hartzell. “He has great vision on the ice and a great hockey IQ. We feel he is someone who can help us score and make the players around him even better.”

After Stampede tryout camp in 2009, Belohrad played major junior hockey in Canada before returning to the USHL with Muskegon in 2010-11 and ascended to the second leading scorer for the Lumberjacks this season.
