The Anaheim Jr. Ducks of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) have announced that 18U forward Max McLain,
17, has signed an NAHL tender with the Amarillo Bulls. The Bulls play
out of the NAHL’s South Division and currently own the NAHL’s best
record.
As of January 19, 2013, McLain (5’7/165) is the 18U age division’s
leading scorer with 31 points (17 goals, 14 assists) to date. The
native of Placentia, California, also ranks 3rd in goals with 17, is
tied for 3rd in game-winning goals with three and tied for 3rd in power
play goals with five.
Perhaps the most remarkable stat for McLain is that he has
registered a point in every NAPHL game his season heading into play on
January 19th. During his 18-game point streak, McLain has had eight
multi-point games, which included a four-point game back on December
30th.
McLain has led his 18U Jr. Ducks to a 14-3-2 record through the
first 19 games of the season. Heading into competition on January 19th,
the Ducks had a one point lead for the top spot in the 18U White
Division and the second best record overall.
McLain becomes the fourth Anaheim Jr. Ducks player this season, and
second from the 18U team, to sign an NAHL tender. Last season, McLain
played for the LA Selects midget minor 16U team where he had 28 points
in 38 games played.
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his
intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team
only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights
belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any
other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include
two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL - plus or
minus any trades - which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are
not eligible for the NAHL draft.
