Jeremy Johnson of the Minnesota Wilderness named Pizza Hut player of the week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Minnesota Wilderness forward Jeremy Johnson has been named Pizza Hut player of the week for the period finishing up Jan. 27.

In two games this past week the 20-year-old native of West Fargo, N.D. scored four times and set-up another helping the league-leading Wilderness skate to a pair of victories over the rival Minnesota Iron Rangers.

Johnson began his award-winning effort by tallying twice and adding an assist in a 7-3 triumph over the Iron Rangers this past Wednesday.

He then followed that up by notching two more markers, including the game-winner; in a 4-2 triumph vs. the same side on Friday helping the No. 2 CJHL-ranked Wilderness improve to 24-0-0-1 in their past 25 contests.

On the season Johnson has scored a career-high 21 goals on the campaign to go along with 21 helpers for 42 total points in 36 games, which leaves him eighth overall in SIJHL offensive production.

Pizza Hut player of the week Honourable Mention went to Fort Frances Lakers forward Jordan Christianson.

At the conclusion of the 2012-13 regular season the SIJHL’s top performer will earn the Pizza Hut player of the year award.
