Steelers’ Thomas named RBC Player of Month

The RBC Player of the Month is Parker Thomas of the Selkirk Steelers.

The 19-year-old forward has been a key contributor for the Steelers, who sit atop the Addison Division with 22 wins and 46 points. Over the month of December, Thomas recorded 20 points (6-14), leading all scorers for the month.

The runners up are 20 year old forward Jon Gaudet of the Dauphin Kings and 18 year old forward Colin Baudry of the Swan Valley Stampeders.

Sherwood Hockey Defenseman of the Month

Tanner Butler, 19, of the Dauphin Kings was recognized for his outstanding play in December. The talented blueliner recorded 11 points (3-8) in 11 games.

The runners up are 18 year old Sean Collins of the Virden Oil Capitals and 18 year old Landon Peel of the Swan Valley Stampeders.

MGEU Goaltender of the Month

A stalwart between the pipes during the Portage Terriers’ run to the RBC Cup last year, Adam Iwan, 19, continues to arguably be one of the best goaltenders in the MJHL.

The Winnipeg native posted a 4-2 record for December, with an outstanding 2.50 GAA and .923 save percentage.

The runners up are 20 year old Landon Noel of the Swan Valley Stampeders and 20 year old Riley Feser of the Selkirk Steelers.


IBAM Rookie of the Month

Brian Archibald of the Dauphin Kings drew the nod for top freshman in December. The 18-year-old posted a 4-1 record, enroute to a 3.00 GAA and .891 save percentage. One of his wins was a shutout effort.

The runners up are 18 year old goaltender Kyler Beckett of the Virden Oil Capitals and 17 year old forward Tristan Keck of the Winkler Flyers.
