Press Release

The United States Hockey League announced the CCM and Reebok player awards for the 16th week of the 2012-13 USHL regular season.

Award winners include Sam Rothstein of the Sioux Falls Stampede and Nicholas Schilkey of the Green Bay Gamblers, who were named co-recipients of CCM Forward of the Week; Dylan Maller of the Tri-City Storm, selected as CCM Defenseman of the Week; and Charlie Lindgren of the Sioux Falls Stampede, who takes home honors as Reebok Goaltender of the Week.

Sam Rothstein, F, Sioux Falls Stampede: The Minnetonka, MN native earns his second CCM Forward of the Week award after registering five points (2g, 3a) and a plus-five on-ice rating in three games last week.  Wednesday night, Rothstein netted a power play goal and dished out one assist as Sioux Falls rolled to an 8-3 win over Waterloo.  The 19-year-old recorded a pair of assists on Friday as the Stampede cruised to a 7-1 victory against Des Moines.  Rothstein then scored his third goal in five games in the first period of Sioux Falls’ 2-1 win over Sioux City on Saturday.  The Colorado College commit has points in nine straight games, which is tied for the third longest streak in the League this season, and holds the team lead in points with 32 (12g, 20a).

Nicholas Schilkey, F, Green Bay Gamblers: The Ohio State University commit picks up his first CCM Forward of the Week award after putting up three goals and an assist over the weekend.  Friday night, Schilkey potted a second-period power play goal and grabbed an assist to help the Gamblers to a 3-2 win over the Indiana Ice.  The Smiths Creek, MI native scored a pair of goals in the second period of Green Bay’s 6-4 loss to the Ice on Sunday.  Schilkey is currently on a three-game point streak and has points in 10 of his last 12 games, with nine multi-point efforts over that span.  Since December 1st (13 games), the 18-year-old has produced 20 points (12g, 8a) and a plus-nine rating.  He is second on the Gamblers in scoring while tied for the team lead with 16 goals this season.

Dylan Maller, D, Tri-City Storm: It is the first CCM Defenseman of the Week award for the 18-year-old who registered a goal and an assist and was a plus-four over the weekend.  The Parkland, FL native scored his first goal of the season, on his only shot of the game, in the third period of Tri-City’s 5-3 loss to the Fargo Force on Friday.  On Saturday, he picked up an assist in the 5-2 win over Fargo.  He also finished the night with a game high plus-three rating.  Maller, who is committed to the University of New Hampshire, was also part of the Storm’s penalty killing unit that turned away all seven of the opponent’s power play opportunities during the weekend.

Charlie Lindgren, G, Sioux Falls Stampede:  The Lakeville, MN native takes home his third Reebok Goaltender of the Week award after a 3-0-0 week, having posted a 0.82 goals-against average, and a .966 save percentage in nearly 150 minutes of game action.  On Wednesday, Lindgren stopped 20-of-21 shots he faced over 46 minutes to lead Sioux Falls to an 8-3 win over Waterloo.  Two days later, he turned aside all 15 shots he saw in just over two periods of play in the Stampede’s 7-1 win against Des Moines.  Saturday night saw the 19-year-old put together a 22-save performance as the Stampede took down Sioux City 2-1.  Lindgren is currently riding a seven-game winning streak and is 10-1-0 in his last 11 games with one shutout.  The St. Cloud State University commit finds himself in third place among USHL goaltenders with a 2.38 GAA and fifth with a .914 SV%.
