CARMEL NATIVE WILL BE IN LINE-UP SUNDAY AT FIELDHOUSE

Press Release

INDIANAPOLIS—The Indiana Ice is calling up defenseman Grant Hutton from their affiliate list to play in Saturday’s game at Muskegon and Sunday’s 3:05 p.m. home contest against Youngstown from Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Hutton was drafted by the Ice in the 2012 USHL Entry Draft and has been playing this year for the Corpus Christi Rayz of the North American Hockey League (NAHL).  In 29 games in Texas, he has collected five points (G, 4A) and a (+8) plus/minus.

The 6-2 defenseman is a native of Carmel, IN and spent last season with the Indiana Junior Ice U16 program.  He was the top defenseman on the 2012 NAPHL championship club where he amassed 48 points (11G, 37A) and 75 penalty minutes in 59 games.  He was also selected to the All NAPHL Second-Team postseason squad.

Hutton joins forward Mason Jobst (Muskegon Lumberjacks) as one of two Junior Ice alumni in the last three seasons to suit up in the USHL.  Previous Junior Ice players to have skated in the league include defenseman Cameron Schilling (Hershey-AHL) and Matt Smith and forwards Jake Skjodt and Alex Handy.
