INDIANAPOLIS—The Indiana Ice is calling up defenseman Grant Hutton
from their affiliate list to play in Saturday’s game at Muskegon and
Sunday’s 3:05 p.m. home contest against Youngstown from Bankers Life
Fieldhouse.
Hutton was drafted by the Ice in the 2012 USHL Entry Draft and has
been playing this year for the Corpus Christi Rayz of the North American
Hockey League (NAHL). In 29 games in Texas, he has collected five
points (G, 4A) and a (+8) plus/minus.
The 6-2 defenseman is a native of Carmel, IN and spent last season
with the Indiana Junior Ice U16 program. He was the top defenseman on
the 2012 NAPHL championship club where he amassed 48 points (11G, 37A)
and 75 penalty minutes in 59 games. He was also selected to the All
NAPHL Second-Team postseason squad.
Hutton joins forward Mason Jobst (Muskegon Lumberjacks) as one of two
Junior Ice alumni in the last three seasons to suit up in the USHL.
Previous Junior Ice players to have skated in the league include
defenseman Cameron Schilling (Hershey-AHL) and Matt Smith and forwards Jake Skjodt and Alex Handy.
