DEPAPE RETURNS FOR JDRF FUNDRAISER

Press Release

Kamloops, BC – The Kamloops Blazers in partnership with Animas Canada will be welcoming back former player Jordan DePape on Friday, February 15th when the hockey club hosts the Kelowna Rockets. Jordan will be part of a ceremonial puck drop and will be signing autographs as we raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

The first 2000 through the front doors will receive a special poster featuring DePape thanking the fans for the support through his three and a half seasons with the Kamloops Blazers. DePape will be signing autographs on the concourse during the first period intermission

During the second period intermission, there will be a puck toss with all proceeds going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The winner will receive an autographed #17 Jordan DePape jersey.

DePape was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 12. He has since been an inspiration to many young children suffering from Type 1 diabetes. The last two summers, he has embarked on the George Canyon & Friends Diabetes Heroes Tour. The five-city tour across Canada with country music star George Canyon encourages those living with Type 1 diabetes that anything is possible.

Prior to the game Friday night, Jordan will be speaking to over 100 children that are affected by Type 1 diabetes.

DePape suited up for 120 games with the Blazers over parts of four seasons and contributed with 98 points. He is currently recovering from shoulder surgery after an injury suffered earlier this season. The 20-year-old is currently training in anticipation of playing again with the Red Deer Rebels sometime in March.

The Kamloops Blazers would like to thank Animas Canada and the Red Deer Rebels for their support of this special event.

Animas Canada provides insulin pumps to those affected by diabetes. The pump is used to help regulate insulin levels depending on the different activities of the user. Jordan has received great support from Animas Canada over the past number of years.
