Press Release
The Vancouver Giants are proud to announce the signing of the #1 rated player Alec Baer from Minnesota to a WHL Player Agreement.
Baer
started the season with Benilde-St. Margaret's, one of the best high
school teams in the state of Minnesota. Alec Baer was rated as the #1
Freshman in Minnesota by Western College Hockey SB Nation.
The 5'9", 150lb St. Louis Park native
played for the Red Knights as a freshman and had 5 goals and 11 assists
(16 points) in 19 games with Benilde-St. Margaret's.
"We
are extremely excited to have Alec join our team and we are hoping to
have him in the line up before the end of the season," said Giants'
Executive Vice President & General Manager, Scott Bonner. "He will
be a great addition to the Giants. Having Alec sign with us is a big
step in the right direction for the team."
In his 2011-12 season, Baer
played varsity hockey as an eighth grader for St. Louis Park High where
he tallied 27 points (13 goals and 14 assists) in just 23 games and tied
the St. Louis Park team lead with five game-winning goals.
Baer
participated in the Giants' Rookie Training Camp last August and
finished camp as the leading scorer. The numbers Baer put up at camp
haven't been seen at a Giants' camp since Gilbert Brule.
