Steel Forward Commits to Michigan State University

 Chicago Steel forward Thomas Ebbing has committed to play collegiate hockey at Michigan State University following his USHL career.

Ebbing has produced 20 points (11g, 9a) in 37 games for the Steel this season.  The USHL rookie scored his first goal in just his second game in the League, a 4-2 win vs. Tri-City on September 29th, 2012.  He was selected to play in the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in January and was listed as No. 100 among North American skaters in the midterm rankings of NHL Central Scouting.  The Troy, Michigan native was selected by the Chicago Steel in the 2012 USHL Entry Draft.

Ebbing joins Steel teammate Mackenzie MacEachern who is also committed to play hockey at Michigan State.  The duo was also teammates last season playing high school hockey at Brother Rice in Michigan.  Five other current USHL players have plans to attend Michigan State University; Joshua Jacobs (Indiana Ice), Joe Cox (Muskegon Lumberjacks), Cody Milan (Sioux Falls Stampede), Edwin Minney (Team USA), and J.T. Stenglein (Waterloo Black Hawks).

Michigan State University is currently a member of the CCHA and has 14 USHL alumni on the roster for the Spartans this season; Dean Chelios (Chicago/Cedar Rapids), Jake Chelios (Chicago Steel), Chris Forfar (Lincoln/Waterloo), Anthony Hayes (Green Bay Gamblers), Greg Wolfe (Omaha/Chicago), Willie Yanakeff (Sioux City/Waterloo), Matt Berry (Muskegon Lumberjacks), Brent Darnell (Sioux Falls Stampede), Travis Walsh (Muskegon/Sioux City), R.J. Boyd (Indiana Ice), Ryan Keller (Sioux Falls Stampede), Matt DeBlouw (Muskegon Lumberjacks), Michael Ferrantino (Omaha Lancers), and Jake Hildebrand (Cedar Rapids/Sioux City).
